West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell has made a name for himself around the world for his explosive all-round prowess and Outlaws fans are about to find out why.

The 28-year-old has amassed over 200 appearances in the format since his debut in 2011 and is one of only two cricketers to score over 2,000 runs and take more than 100 wickets in T20 cricket since 2013.

Over recent times he starred in the Big Bash League with Sydney Thunder, scoring his runs at a strike-rate of 188.86 and picking up 16 wickets as his side won the tournament for the first time.

It was far from the first time that Russell was part of a winning side in recent times, starting with the 2013 Caribbean Premier League in the colours of the Jamaica Tallawahs and the Indian Premier League title with the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014.

The past 12 months have been even more successful, seeing Russell perform on the winning side in four recent competitions, in Bangladesh, Australia, the UAE and the World T20 with the West Indies.

With the all-rounder likely to slot in to the middle order for the Outlaws, the batting order position in which Mick Newell and Dan Christian choose to employ him will be very much of interest to cricket lovers.

The Jamaican has scored over 1,900 runs at an average of over 27 whilst striking at almost 175 since January 2013 coming in at numbers five, six and seven.

In that same time period, he has struck at more than 180 per 100 balls when facing deliveries in the final five overs of the innings, and is in the top five run-getters worldwide during that phase of the game.

Russell’s game is, however, about much more than his batting. With the ball he is a wicket taker in both the first six overs, and the final five, whilst in the field he has pulled off numerous sensational boundary saves and catches.

Overall, Russell has garnered 182 T20 wickets, at an average of just 26.18 and a strike rate of one every 19.3 balls. His 2,948 short format runs have come at an overall strike rate of greater than 165. He has struck a momumental 216 fours and 200 maximums over his T20 career.
