Imran Tahir, who took 7-112 against Somerset on day three of the Specsavers County Championship clash, says Nottinghamshire will continue to fight for victory on the final day.
The South African international called his haul ‘very special’ siting the tough bowling conditions, and its importance to the team, with Somerset falling from 379-4 to 437 all out.
“That felt very special. Taking five-fers in first class cricket is every bowler’s dream, so I’m smiling and full of energy going into the last day,” said Tahir.
“I am really pleased the way I bowled and even more happy because it helped us do well as a team.
“Even though conditions were tough for bowling, I gave it by best shot and everyone around me bowled well.
“They helped me bowl the way I did and it was great to get rewards in the end from all our hard work.”
The home side are leading by 22 with eight second innings wickets in tact heading into day four but, with a little help from a wearing surface, the 37-year-old still believes a victory push is attainable.
“There were some signs of the pitch starting to turn a little bit more than it did the first and second day, so that will give me energy when I come on and bowl tomorrow," he said.
“First we need to bat well, put runs on the board and give ourselves the best chance.
“It’s in the balance. The first session tomorrow will be crucial. If we can get to 250/300 runs, we can definitely fight to win the game from there.
“One thing I can promise is that we will give our best.”
