Samit Patel, the 31-year-old all-rounder with 449 first team appearances to his name, has been granted a testimonial year by Nottinghamshire.

Patel made his first class and List A debuts in 2002, and has gone on to post an all-format aggregate of 16,152 runs & 513 wickets for his only county. He has also represented England on 60 occasions.

“Samit’s continuing success across all formats of the game, which already spans well over a decade, is testament to his talent and durability,” said Nottinghamshire Chairman of Cricket Bill Taylor.

“He has played his part in three major trophy winning campaigns, has always been a very popular figure among the Members & supporters at Trent Bridge and thoroughly deserves his testimonial year.”

Capped by the Club in 2008, Patel played in the Championship winning teams of 2005 and 2010, and was man of the match in the final of the Yorkshire Bank 40 Final back in 2013, having taken 3-21 in the 87-run victory over Glamorgan.

“I’m very privileged because Notts is such a big Club, a lot of great names have come out of it and I wouldn’t want to play cricket anywhere else.

“Having the opportunity to play for Nottinghamshire is massive for me. Trent Bridge, with the great crowds we get, is a great place to play cricket.

“I’m thankful to everybody involved in making the decision, and hopefully I can give something back by playing for the Club for the rest of my career.”
