As an exclusively unique Membership package goes under auction today, Mick Newell says he can guarantee that a season of cricket with Nottinghamshire is “never dull.”

With Notts having finished the 2015 season in a rich vein of form, the Director of Cricket expects the season to provide rich entertainment right from the start.

“It is always exciting watching Nottinghamshire,” he said. “It’s never dull.

“I can’t guarantee we will always win, but it’s always fantastic fun to watch.

“There’s a lot of potential for good cricket right from the first month of the season.

“Surrey have really good young players and Yorkshire have been the best team in the country for the last couple of seasons.

“They’ll both be coming to Trent Bridge to go up against a Notts side that will be desperate to start the season well.

“One of the beauties of the County Championship is that nobody is safe from relegation, but everybody is capable of challenging to win it.

“You think of the two newly promoted sides as big name clubs; Surrey and Lancashire have big Test Match grounds, big budgets, well paid & looked after players and lots of international cricketers, so you don’t see that obvious relegation candidate at all.

“Two good teams are going to disappear and at the moment you wouldn’t say who out of the nine that’s going to be, and you wouldn’t say who’s going to be at the top.

“Yorkshire are the team to beat and we’ll all be chasing them.”

Featuring everything from traditional red ball Sundays to the high-octane excitement of floodlit Fridays in the Natwest T20 Blast, the 2016 county season is set to encompass 40 days of home cricket.
