Notts Outlaws lock horns with the Essex Eagles on Monday night in the NatWest T20 Blast quarter-finals in a clash that will pit two of county cricket's wicketkeeping stalwarts.

Chris Read and James Foster have each endured similar experiences with regards Englanbd selection before continuing to produce sublime glovework and strokeplay on the county circuit for many years.

Club Captain Read has been vital to Nottinghamshire’s fortunes since making his first class debut in 1998, before taking on the captaincy role a decade later.

That led to some of his best years with the bat for Nottinghamshire, averaging 42.06 in 2008, scoring 1,203 runs at 75.18 in 2009 and making his runs at 45 in the Championship winning season of 2010.

Overall, in his 767 matches, Read has managed 22,114 runs across all three formats at an average of 33.56, including 27 hundreds and 111 fifties.

2015 was another year of milestones for the 37-year-old, where he passed 15,000 first class runs and became only the 26th wicketkeeper to take 1,000 first class dismissals when he held Paul Collingwood off Brett Hutton.

Overall the Devon-born keeper has taken an astonishing 1,348 catches and 150 stumpings in his career to date.

After missing part of the 2016 season with a hand injury, Read has returned to make 361 runs at 40.11 in the Specsavers County Championship and has struck his NatWest T20 Blast runs at a strike rate of 200.

Foster, another one-club man, has also received high praise for his glovework over the years, taking a total of 1,064 catches and 166 stumpings over 649 matches.

A year younger than Read, Foster has played 649 matches, enabling him to make 18,259 runs at an average of 32.78, with 22 hundreds and 88 half centuries.

His mixture of explosive and watchful knocks in the respective formats have seen him become a mainstay of the Essex line up for many years.

Whilst neither of the players are captain in the shortest format for their sides anymore, both are sure to have a part in deciding the outcome on Monday night.
