Jake Libby amassed an unbelievable 176 for the Seconds as Notts posted 398 in their first innings against Hampshire in a three-day friendly at Lady Bay.
Notts captain Libby opened with Joe Barrett but, whereas the latter fell in the fifth over, the right-handed Libby protracted at the crease – his stint lasted four hours and 49 minutes, to be precise – as he faced 222 balls and hammered 19 fours and one six.
His mammoth innings came to a close when he was caught at backward point by Joe Weatherley, off the bowling of Fraser Hay, with Notts at the time 332-6.
Lyndon James was handed a debut for the Seconds, a reward for his fantastic season with the Academy, and he chipped in with a commendable 35; Will Root also grabbed an unbeaten 67, while the ever-reliable Dominic Brown heaped 55.
At the end of the 90th over, Notts declared on 398-8 with seamer Josh McCoy finishing with 3-58 off 13 overs for the visitors.
With 12 overs left to play, Hampshire replied with Weatherley and Ben Duggan and Hampshire clawed 42 by the end of the ninth over, but off-spinner Matt Carter dislodged Duggan (16) with his first ball and, at the close, Hampshire were 43-1, Weatherley 26* and Felix Organ on one.
