Jake Libby scored his seventh century since returning from injury whilst Michael Lumb added 76 as Nottinghamshire’s Seconds racked up 479 all out on the first day of their friendly with Gloucestershire in Bristol.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first, captain Greg Smith and Libby piling on the runs before lunch.

The pair had added 151 for the first wicket by the break, Smith not out on 49 whilst Libby raced along to 90.

The latter brought up his seventh century of the summer off 142 balls at the beginning of the second session before the first wicket fell with the score on 182, Smith caught and bowled by Miles Hammond for 60.

Lumb joined the young opener and the pair progressed the score on to 223 before Hammond bowled Libby for 133, the 22-year-old having now scored 839 runs for the Seconds at an average of just under 70 since his comeback.

Runs were coming thick and fast for Notts and by the tea break the visitors had put on 302-2, Lumb unbeaten on 46 and Sam Wood on 34*.

Max Stevenson struck twice in an over shortly after the break, Wood (39) and Will Root (0) falling with the score on 312.

However, the rest of the day was about three Notts half centurions with Lumb, Dan Christian and Will Gidman all adding quick runs.

Lumb went to his fifty from 84 balls before falling to Tom Hampton’s bowling for 76 before Christian added 52 in 39 balls and Gidman scored a quickfire 55.

Nottinghamshire were eventually all out for 479 by the close of play, Max Stevenson’s 3-88 and Miles Hammonds’s 3-147 the pick of the bowling figures for the hosts.
