Having made his Test debut back in 2008 against India, Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle has wracked up some impressive stats on his way to 198 wickets in the longest format.

The Victorian’s wickets have come at an average of just under 30, with best bowling figures of 6-54 against England in the first Test of the 2010/11 Ashes series.

That included him becoming the ninth Australian to take a Test hat-trick when he removed Alastair Cook, Matt Prior and Stuart Broad in successive deliveries.

Overall Siddle has persistently caused trouble against England’s batting line up, with four of his eight five-wicket hauls coming against the nation, including 5-50 at Trent Bridge in 2013.

Out of his eight Test five wicket hauls, against four separate nations, half have come against England, meaning the current Ashes holders will have been pleased his involvement in the 2015 series was limited to the last Test at The Oval.

Known for his tireless efforts on the cricketing field, Siddle sent down 63.5 overs in the 2012 Adelaide Test against South Africa after James Pattinson pulled up injured.

Away from his efforts with the ball, in which he has 430 first class wickets at 27.83, the useful lower order batsman has also amassed over 2,300 runs, including a century against Scotland in the 2013 Ashes warm up.

In his first stint with Nottinghamshire, back in 2014, the Victorian delivered 37 wickets, including match figures of 8-136 against Northamptonshire in his fourth match, at an average of just over 30.

Siddle’s elevation to international honours had been earmarked since he first took up cricket at 14, going on to return figures of 11-47 in a state under-17 match.

The 2015 season has seen dramatic last-gasp four day victories, thrilling limited-overs contests and an historic Investec Ashes Test, all in the unique surroundings of Trent Bridge.

Next season, we’d wager, will be no less enthralling and frankly we’d hate for you to miss out.
