Brett Hutton completed an impressive all-round performance with a half-century as the Second XI fixture against Lincolnshire ended in a draw.
The 22-year-old all-rounder followed his first innings bowling figures of 4-37 with a score of 63 on the final day of the match at Sleaford, with Nottinghamshire setting their opposition a target of 289 to win from 54 overs.
Lincolnshire’s second innings reached 110-5 in 42 overs when the game was declared as a draw.
Notts began the day on 77-3, an overall lead of 107, and extended their advantage by a further 31 before Adam Tillcock became the first victim of the day, edging to slip for 15.
Purchase and Hutton then added 55 before the former fell victim, off the bowling of Matthew Carter, to a one-handed catch by Joe Peck for 38.
Jake Fish entered the Fray at 163-5 and watched from the non-strikers end as Hutton passed fifty in 60 balls, with seven fours and two sixes.
The half-centurion was caught in the deep off Carter two overs later and lunch was taken with Notts 229-6 – a lead of 259.
James Webster scored a breezy 17 after the interval and Jake Fish was 36 not out as Nottinghamshire declared on 258-7.
Hutton then struck quickly with the new ball trapping Saad Ashraf for six.
And with further wickets falling to Simon Webster and Adam Tillcock, followed by a Sam Wood run out making the score 39-4, the visitors were left needing six wickets in one session for victory.
To achieve it, the collapse would need to continue. However, Notts were denied by a solid half-century stand between Jamie Brumby, who eventually offered a catch to mid-on off Sam Wood for 38, and Matt Roberts, who finished unbeaten on 26.
