Andy Carter has returned from his loan spell with Glamorgan and has been added to the squad for Sunday's LV= County Championship match against Durham.

The 26-year-old paceman, who took 12 wickets in three matches during his loan spell in Cardiff, is joined in the 14-man party by Harry Gurney, who returns having missed the match against Hampshire through injury.

"I wanted to play first team cricket and they gave that opportunity at a time when all of the Nottinghamshire bowlers were fit," Carter said.

"I've been focussed on doing well for Glamorgan and I know Notts have been watching the matches and they wanted me to find form and fitness. It worked out well for all three parties."

All those that featured at the Ageas Bowl retain their place in the squad, with the exception of Jake Ball who misses out with a hand injury.

Luke Fletcher and Brett Hutton have also been added to the squad, meanwhile, the England duo of James Taylor and Alex Hales will return from international duty with England in time to feature.

Carter's fellow pace bowler, 19-year-old left-armer Luke Wood, is hoping to retain his place in the starting eleven - and help bowl his side to victory - after claiming first innings figures of 3-68 against Hampshire.

“We haven’t been able to push that result through yet this season on pitches which have been decent for batting on,” he said.

“However, I believe travelling up North to Durham will give the bowlers more to play with the conditions likely to suit us more.

“In Durham the pitches usually do a lot off the seam and the cooler air give the ball more chance to swing which can only be good for myself and the other bowlers.

“The likes of Brendan Taylor, Alex Hales and James Taylor have started well with the bat and we hope they kick on and it is up to us bowlers to do the job with the ball.”

“Durham will be a tough game as they have started the season well picking up victories against Somerset and Sussex.

“They got beaten pretty heavily last time out but they will be looking to bounce back from that and we need to make sure we are on top of our game.”
