Having featured in the domestic competitions of Australia, India and England during his career, Dan Christian has played Twenty20 cricket for no fewer than eight different clubs, as well as in 15 internationals for his country.

The former Deccan Chargers, Royal Challangers Bangalore and Brisbane Heat all-rounder's globetrotting, however, has never yet taken him onto the hallowed turf of Trent Bridge, something he's looking forward to changing against Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Saturday.

“Everything I have heard about playing in front of Trent Bridge support is great and I can’t wait to feel the atmosphere on Saturday,” he said.

“I am settling in really well with the club and they are a great bunch of lads to be around who have made it easy for me to get on with my game.

“Playing with Dave Hussey back home, I was able to do a bit of training with him before I came over and everything sounded fantastic from his point of view.

“The One-Day International here last week was a great occasion with a good wicket and the crowd get into everything, so I am really looking forward to being part of that."

A double-header of NatWest T20 Bast action this weekend starts at Derbyshire tomorrow night, prior to the visit of the Steelbacks to Trent Bridge tomorrow. Two matches in the space of less than 24 hours doesn't phase Christian, whose preparation will be similar to that of a one off fixture.

“Our preparation for the double header isn’t too different to any other game, you don’t have to hit or bowl too many if you feel like it is coming out nicely," he said.

“It is important to be in a good frame of mind and make sure you take the positives from the previous couple of games and try and replicate those.”

Christian’s Outlaws debut didn’t go to plan, his side falling to a 40-run loss at Yorkshire Vikings last Friday. But the 32-year-old believes the Outlaws can get back on track this weekend.

“Yorkshire got off to a really good start with the bat which meant we were on the back foot from the off,” he said.

“They got to around 60 from those first six which set them well on their way to 200 and in the end it was a case of their first six against ours as we lost early wickets and couldn’t recover.

“If we can try and be more economical in the first six overs by taking wickets at regular intervals, we can hopefully restrict opponents and put ourselves in a good position.

“On Friday is was disappointing as a whole because as a team we didn’t really get it right on the night.

“I am, however, happy with how things are going with my game at the moment and feel like I bowled 95% of the balls where I wanted to.

“With the bat I didn’t have much time to settle in and unfortunately hit one straight back to James Middlebrook. However, in the nets I feel like I am hitting the ball well and I hope to take that in to the next couple of games.”
