Notts Outlaws meet Durham in the quarter finals of the Royal London One-Day Cup. The sides clash at Trent Bridge on Tuesday 25 August with a 2pm start.
The Outlaws earned home advantage after topping Group B with 12 points. Their opponents finished in fourth spot in Group A, taking nine points.
The tie brings together the last two winners of the domestic one-day competition. Durham defeated Warwickshire Bears to win the inaugural Royal London competition last year, whilst Notts won the Yorkshire Bank 40 in 2013.
Head To Head
This match will be the 37th time that Nottinghamshire and Durham have met in the various domestic one-day competitions. Durham hold a narrow advantage, having won 18 matches, to Nottinghamshire’s 16.
At home Notts have won seven and lost eight of the 17 contests with one no result and one match being completely abandoned.
Last season Durham defeated Notts in both one-day meetings, a group match and the semi-final, although both contests were played in the north east.
Last Time
The last Trent Bridge meeting in one-day cricket took place on August 19 2012 in the Clydesdale Bank 40 competition.
Notts made 294 for eight, with solid contributions coming from Michael Lumb (84), Chris Read (71 not out) and Riki Wessels (43).
Mark Stoneman scored 102 in the chase but no-one else reached 40 and Durham were bowled out in 38.3 overs for 251, giving Notts the win by 43 runs, with Andy Carter (four for 45) and Steven Mullaney (three for 44) doing most of the damage.
History
In 2004 the two county sides clashed at the Sports Ground in Cleethorpes, the sixth and last time that Notts used the Lincolnshire venue as an outground. The highest individual innings recorded in those matches came from Durham’s Marcus North, who hit 121 not out in his side’s six-wicket victory.
A world record was set when Notts and Durham met at Trent Bridge in the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy of 2006 – and it still stands today.
The two men who achieved it were Chris Read and Andrew ‘AJ’ Harris who broke the world record for ninth wicket partnerships in List A cricket.
They came together with Notts in trouble at 95 for eight, chasing 281 to win. Both batsmen achieved career-high scores, with Read making 135 and his partner scoring 35. Both were then dismissed in quick succession, having added 155 together; meaning that their best efforts still failed to prevent a 28-run defeat.
Trent Bridge’s six iconic floodlights were first used for a Pro40 meeting between the two sides in August 2008. Trent Bridge’s first permanent lights, built on top of six 40-metre high masts, were built by Abacus Lighting of Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Played For Them Both
Seven cricketers have played in first class matches for both Nottinghamshire and Durham. The first to do so was wicketkeeper Chris Scott, who played 63 times for Notts between 1981 and 1991, then moved north to join Durham for their debut season in the county championship.
Others to have represented the two counties include: Mark Saxelby, Nathan Astle, John Morris, Will Smith, Mark Davies and Will Gidman.

Did You Know?
This will be the tenth time that Trent Bridge has hosted a domestic one-day quarter final and Notts will be looking to improve on a record which reads Won three Lost six but, on a positive note, they have won each of their last two home quarter finals.
Gillette Cup defeats here to Gloucestershire in 1968, Somerset in 1970 and Derbyshire in 1975 preceded a 1981 Benson and Hedges Cup loss to Surrey.
In 1984 Clive Rice took the man of the match award as Notts turned the tables on Surrey with a whopping 167-run win. Rice had an excellent all-round day, scoring 94 and taking two for 30. In addition, Derek Randall scored 103
Before Eddie Hemmings, three for 12, and Richard Hadlee, who took two for nine, helped rout the visitors for only 89.
Surrey gained revenge ten years later, with Darren Bicknell scoring a century for his first county, after Paul Pollard had scored 104 for Notts.
The seventh quarter final at Trent Bridge saw Nasser Hussain ease Essex over the line with 89 not out, in chasing 289 after Paul Johnson had blasted a ton for the hosts.
In 2001 Notts triumphed over Warwickshire by six wickets in the Benson and Hedges Cup. Nick Knight’s ton was in vain for the Bears, with Bicknell responding with a match-winning 117 not out.
Last year Notts were boosted by a pre-match team-talk from Stuart Pearce, Nottingham Forest’s manager at the time, ahead of their Royal London quarter final with Derbyshire.
The Pearce-inspired Outlaws overcame their East Midlands’ rivals by a whopping 85 runs. James Taylor scored an unbeaten 146 as Notts posted 313 for five.
Derbyshire could only muster 225 all out in reply, with Forest fan Samit Patel taking four for 49. The victory earned Notts a place in the semi finals, away against Durham.
Milestones
Samit Patel (143) needs seven more wickets to become only the third all-rounder (after Richard Hadlee and Clive Rice) to score more than 2,500 runs and reach 150 wickets for Notts in one-day cricket.
Steven Mullaney (976) needs 24 runs to reach 1,000 in one-day cricket.
Jake Ball (47) needs three wickets to reach 50 in one-day cricket.
Luke Fletcher (45) needs five wickets to reach 50 in one-day cricket.
Alex Hales (71) will equal the number of one-day appearances (72) that David Hussey played for Notts.
