Another fine unbeaten century from Jake Libby, coupled with fifties from Billy Root and Will Gidman put Nottinghamshire’s Seconds in a strong position in their Championship clash with Yorkshire.
The visitors resumed day two on 65-0 with Greg Smith unbeaten on 51 and Libby 12* overnight.
After rain had delayed the start by 30 minutes, captain Smith couldn’t add to his score, bowled by James Wainman with the ninth ball of the day.
Sam Wood joined Libby but was Wainman’s second victim soon after, trapped LBW for five, the score moving on to 75-2.
Root and Libby eased their side past Yorkshire’s first innings score of 106 and added a rapid 71 before the interval.
Root scored with intent from the off, going to a 62-ball fifty and moved to 54* by lunch, Libby unbeaten on 34 as the score reached 146-2 by the break.
Resuming after the interval, the pair had stretched Notts’ lead to 58 before Root fell, caught by Jordan Thompson off Wainman (3-86) for 60.
Gidman joined Libby and the pair went about setting up a declaration, upping the tempo and adding an unbeaten 152 for the fourth wicket.
Libby completed his fifth century for the Seconds since his return from injury, ending unbeaten on 152 as Notts piled on the runs.
Gidman added a quickfire 79* to continue his own good form as the Seconds declared on 353-3, a first innings lead of 247.
Yorkshire began their second innings with Eliot Callis (5*) and Mosun Hussain (3*) adding nine off the first five overs before fading light intervened to bring an early close to the day.
