Notts Outlaws will welcome local rivals Derbyshire to Trent Bridge for the quarter-final of the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Luke Fletcher has been central to the Outlaws’ efforts through the summer, and is looking to repay his hometown fans with a trip to Lord’s for the competition’s final.

“I’d love to be able to take everyone from Trent Bridge to Lord’s again,” he said.

“That’s a couple of games away, but that’s what we’re aiming for.

“We’ll come back refreshed after the end of the group stages, prepare as well as we have for every other game this season and give ourselves a great chance of beating Derbyshire.”

Notts will be without Alex Hales and Harry Gurney, who have both been called up for England’s One Day International series against India.

While the loss of his side’s number one and 11, Fletcher is confident not only in the abilities of the Club’s senior players to take responsibility, but also for any player who steps in to make the most of their opportunity.

“We’ll have to show what we can do,” he said.

“We’ve got players in our dressing room who have been in the game for five, six, seven years and we’ll need to go out and do what we do best.

“It’s also a great opportunity for one of the younger lads to step up, Jake Ball is itching to get out there and back into the team. He’s really keen and loves playing in big games at Trent Bridge.”

Fletcher’s contribution was crucial in taking Notts Outlaws to the knockout stages of the Royal London One-Day Cup.

While starting their final group stage fixture against Warwickshire knowing that only a win would guarantee their passage, Fletcher took his career-best List A figures of 4-44 before hitting the winning runs with the last ball, driving down the ground for four.

“I don’t remember that last ball to be honest. I remember coming off and speaking to Sam Kelsall, and he told me I tracked the last ball, really came down the track and hit it,” said Fletcher.

“I can’t remember that, I obviously knew that we had tied, when Gurney came out we spoke about what was needed to win and tie, and our intentions were to make sure it was here at Trent Bridge.

“I was just telling myself to watch the ball and backed myself to react and hit it.

“I much prefer batting to bowling really, but then all bowlers do, it’s much better to hit the winning runs than take a wicket.”
