England Women were comprehensively beaten by an excellent West Indies performance in the Tri-Nation T20 final in Bridgetown.
After winning the toss, England put on 115 from their 20 overs. Nottinghamshire’s Danielle Wyatt added ten before being caught behind, and two more wickets fell with no addition to the score.
Sarah Taylor and Natalie Sciver enjoyed a battling fifty-run partnership, the latter high scoring with 36. Jenny Gunn finished with ten not out.
Despite taking the wickets of Kyshona Knight and Merissa Aguilleira inside seven overs, England fell victim to a destructive stand from Stafanie Taylor and Deandra Dottin. Both scored at rates of better than a run a ball, before Taylor went on to celebrate 50.
It took the hosts 16.5 overs to pass England’s total, taking the competition’s silverware.
The two sides will now play three ODIs starting on October 29.
