The Nottinghamshire Academy’s fixture against top of the league Plumtree CC fell foul of the weather as continual rain interruptions blighted the day, leaving the match abandoned.
The Academy side asked visiting Plumtree to bat first, the weather reducing the match to 49 overs per side, and it was the league leaders who started the brighter. Opening batsmen Storey (47) and Milnes (56) enjoyed a 95 run stand for the first wicket before Anuj Dal trapped the former lbw in the 21st over.
Tetley, the next man in, was Dal’s second victim eight overs later, caught excellently by Hassan Azad to leave the score at 124-2.
The third wicket was a further ten overs coming, Adam Tillcock seeing off Milnes with his first delivery. The two batsmen at the crease continued to add runs, before declaring in the 47th over with the total set at 224-3 (Matt Wood 62*, Bedingham 20*).
The Academy’s reply was delayed by a pair of lengthy rain breaks, giving openers Tom Rowe and Anuj Dal little time to make any impact on the considerable target set.
20 overs remained, before the home side faced the loss of their two batsmen early on. Rowe fell for 10, and Dal for 2, but only twelve overs were played before the weather stopped the reply with the score at 35-2 (Sam Wood 3*, Tillcock 13*).
With no chance of a return to the field of play inside the time left, the match was abandoned.
