Notts Outlaws’ bowlers Stuart Broad and Ryan Sidebottom will face-off against England teammate Jimmy Anderson when Lancashire Lightning visit Trent Bridge on Tuesday (play starts 6.10pm).
Anderson has been cleared to play for his county alongside New Zealand all-rounder Nathan McCullum.
Notts are expected to name an unchanged side led by David Hussey and featuring Australian fast bowler Dirk Nannes and in-form batsmen Alex Hales and Samit Patel.
“Jimmy Anderson will be the best bowler we have encountered in this competition so far and it will be good for Alex and Samit to face someone of his quality,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“We’ve won three out of three but our feet are firmly on the ground because this is a 16-match group stage and there is a long way to go if we are going to progress beyond it.
“Our three international bowlers stepped up on Sunday and restricted the ability of the opposition to score runs in the power-play overs and they’ll have the same task on Tuesday evening at Trent Bridge.”
Much has been made about the prominent role of the Outlaws’ established international players but young trio Alex Hales, Steven Mullaney and Graeme White have also caught the eye in the competition.
“Our younger players are thriving on the responsibility that they have been given and they have shown that they are capable of winning games for us,” said Newell.
“We’ve had an impressive run of victories but the next three games are vitally important and we have to maintain our standards.”
Supporters attending the fixture will have the opportunity to be photographed with England’s ICC World Twenty20 trophy free of charge.
