Charlie Shreck edged closer to a first team return with a solid contribution to Nottinghamshire’s Second Eleven Trophy win over Glamorgan.
After Notts registered 197, Shreck made early inroads when Glamorgan started their reply having Hassan caught at cover by Kelsall and then bowling Birrell. Mark Footitt sent Levi back to the dressing room caught by Shreck and then a superb pick up and throw from Kevon Cooper resulted in the run out of Glamorgan captain Will Bragg.
There was little resistance after that as Jason Brown took two wickets. Andrew Carter bowled a fine ten over spell for 1-22 and after a wicket for Scott Elstone, Mark Footitt returned to end the innings with a further two wickets and Glamorgan were all out for 99.
Notts were put in to bat with opening pair Will Jefferson and Akhil Patel scoring 41 in the first nine overs before Jefferson was lbw for 17. Patel and Sam Kelsall then added 79 for the second wicket. Akhil was the more attacking batsmen, reaching his 50 from 41 balls with nine boundaries. However he became more cautious against the bowling of Hawley, James and Roberts with his boundaries becoming more sparse.
The partnership was going well when a complete mix up in the calling saw Kelsall run out for a stylish 29. Scott Elstone fell cheaply and then at 142, Patel was out for 81 in the 32nd over.
Apart from wicketkeeper Damion Crowley (20), wickets fell at regular intervals and from 172-5 the innings fell away for Notts to be dismissed after 46 overs.
