Players in the Nottinghamshire Second XI must continue their good performances in the Second XI Championship to push for a first team place, according to Assistant Manager Wayne Noon.
The Second XI face Leicestershire at Welbeck Colliery having won their previous Championship fixture at Glamorgan and narrowly missed out on victory over MCC Young Cricketers.
With a relatively strong team available for this week’s game, Noon is hoping the good form will continue.
He said: “The players did very well last week at Cardiff in what were pretty tough conditions for the bowlers.
“Jason Brown wasn’t able to bowl with a stiff back but the seamers stuck at it and got their reward.
“And even though we were under pressure at one stage against the MCC with an inexperienced side, we still almost grabbed a win there as well. We’re doing all right, and I’ve told the lads to keep that going.”
Noon makes one change to the team that lost in the Trophy on Monday. Darren Pattinson’s ankle will not be risked as he continues to recover from injury, with Akhil Patel coming in as his replacement.
Squad to face Leicestershire:
Bilal Shafayat, Matt Wood, Greg Wood, Akhil Patel, Liam Andrews, Scott Elstone, Kevon Cooper, Ben McGuire, Mark Footitt, Charlie Shreck, Andy Carter.
