Scott Elstone’s 74 went unrewarded as Notts lost their Second XI Trophy match against Leicestershire at Nottingham High School by 29 runs.
Winning the toss and batting on an excellent pitch for run scoring, Leicestershire reached a hundred off only 18 overs for the loss of Tom New (18), caught by Andy Carter off Charlie Shreck.
Du Toit was out for 63 on 130 but a partnership of 104 between Cobb (68) and Allenby, who then added a further 74 runs with Pope, helped to take the visitors to 308-4 after 50 overs.
In reply, Notts lost early wickets as Matthew Wood was run out for 10 before Bilal Shafayat (12) and Liam Andrews (7) also tumbled. At 35-3, Notts were on the back foot but Greg Wood (39) and Chris Cooke (25) steadied the innings before Kevon Cooper hit a rapid 43 from 26 balls.
Elstone was out in the last over for 74, aided by Charlie Shreck’s unbeaten 22, but Notts landed short.
