Charlie Shreck and Mark Footitt made early inroads into the MCCYC innings for the Second XI following an overnight declaration at 338-6 on the second day of the Championship game at Radlett.
Footitt clean bowled opener Ian Cockbain and then had Jackson Thompson caught at second slip by Will Jefferson. Scott Elstone caught Brown in the slips off Shreck and the home team were struggling at 17-3.
However, a partnership of 103 between Matt Richardson, son of former South African wicketkeeper Dave Richardson, and Ned Eckersley held Notts up before Shreck came back and dismissed them both. Richardson went for 63 and Eckersley for 83.
Footitt and Shreck both claimed a further wicket each and Jason Brown removed Blacktopp who scored 41 as the home team were dismissed for 249, giving Notts a lead of 89. Charlie Shreck, captaining the side, finished with figures of 4-38 from 17 overs and Mark Footitt recorded 3-56, also from 17 overs.
Notts were unable to press home their advantage as Andrew Clarke claimed four wickets at the start of their second innings. Only Akhil Patel reached double figures with 29 as Notts slumped to 45-6 by the close.
