Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club Chief Executive Derek Brewer will keep a keen eye on negotiations concerning the re-location of the Indian Premier League after England and South Africa emerged as the leading contenders to host the tournament which cannot be played in India for security concerns.
“With the work that we have undertaken to re-develop Trent Bridge, it is the type of venue that is absolutely right for this type of tournament but the counter-balance to that is that we’re talking about a very short amount of time to plan and host a major event,” Derek told BBC Radio Nottingham.
“If the IPL did come to England and Wales then I am sure that Trent Bridge would be one of the venues that the ECB would be looking to use but the key of course is to see exactly what any agreement would mean and whether any particular venue is able to stage the event.
“Our Indian colleagues will meet with Cricket South Africa and the ECB and it really is very difficult to say what the outcome of those talks will be.”
