Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell will keep a keen eye on Somerset’s LV County Championship fixture against Durham following the conclusion of his side’s rain-affected draw at Trent Bridge.
Wet weather led to the abandonment of two days of play after a rain-affected opening in which Notts claimed three bonus points for their bowling display.
The result increased Nottinghamshire’s lead at the top of the table to four points with Somerset poised in second position looking forward to their game in hand at Taunton.
“The extra point puts us in a slightly better position than we were in before the game but we would have preferred to make the match count and to have earned a win.” Said Newell.
“Everything will be clearer after next week and we’ll keep an eye on Somerset’s game in hand. The outcome is obviously important to us and then every team goes into the final two rounds of matches knowing what they need to do.”
Notts Second XI also lost two days to persistent rain against Northampotnshire at Milton Keynes.
