Assistant manager Wayne Noon was left frustrated as the weather prevented a single ball being bowled for Notts Second XI friendly with Lancashire.
The three-day match at Notts Sports Ground at Lady Bay was due to feature a combined Notts and Northants team against Lancashire, but was washed out after heavy rain over the last five days left the outfield soaked.
Noon said: “The fact we had to knock it on the head at the start of the third day says it all really. I’m extremely frustrated because it was certainly the strongest two teams I’ve seen for a Second XI game in a long time.
“We had 12 staff players on both sides and it would have been a great work-out for the boys. Unfortunately there’s no prospect of us being able to re-arrange the fixture with such a busy summer, which is a real shame.”
