Notts opener Will Jefferson has been picked to play for the MCC in the season’s curtain-raiser against reigning county champions Sussex next week.
The 27-year-old joins England Test stars Alastair Cook, Steve Harmison and Matthew Hoggard and Owais Shah in the 12-man squad, with the match taking place at Lord’s from April 13-16.
Jefferson is one of seven members of the successful England A side that toured Bangladesh this winter to be selected.
Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell said: “In recent years the MCC squads have been deliberately picked to reflect potential future England internationals and Will has pushed himself forward in that respect with his performances over the winter.
“It’s a big honour to be selected and a great opportunity to keep himself in the thoughts of the selectors.”
