Gym guru Anne Sharpe is The Blaze’s Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach, charged with ensuring the squad are fit, firing, and able to perform at their best.
She has been with the team ever since they were established as Lightning in 2020, joining as a graduate strength and conditioning coach after earning her master’s degree in S&C that year.
That was the culmination of five years’ study at Loughborough, where she first enrolled in 2015 for a bachelor’s degree in sports science.
During her studies, she worked in various S&C roles with several local netball teams, including the elite Loughborough Lightning Super League side.
After graduating, Sharpe continued to refine her experience elsewhere alongside her main role with Lightning/The Blaze by undertaking spells in the same role with the women’s sides of Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire in The Hundred.
In her tenure as Lead S&C of The Blaze, the team have tasted glory with the 2024 Charlotte Edwards Cup triumph, before 2025 saw them reach Finals Day of both the Vitality Blast and the Vitality County Cup, as well as qualifying for the last four of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
