Nottinghamshire will face a day four battle to save their Rothesay County Championship clash with Sussex in Hove after another testing day.

Brett Hutton returned four wickets as the hosts were dismissed for 358, in front by 118, before the top order smoothly cancelled out that deficit for the loss of only three wickets.

However, a late burst from Ari Karvelas and Jaydev Unadkat put Sussex in the ascendancy as the visitors closed on 149-7, in front by 31.
