Fergus O’Neill claimed four wickets even as the majority of the first day between Nottinghamshire and Hampshire at Utilita Bowl was lost to the weather.

While in excess of 50 overs of the day’s allocation went unbowled due to rain, O’Neill still found time to take 4/32 after Haseeb Hameed won the toss and opted to insert the hosts.

Lyndon James and Josh Tongue also returned a scalp apiece as despite Nick Gubbins making 36 for bottom side Hampshire, they ended the day struggling on 152-6.
