Ben Slater’s 48 helped Nottinghamshire back up a first five-wicket haul of the summer for Fergus O’Neill as they took the upper hand against Hampshire.
Despite another rain-curtailed day, with no play possible after tea, the visitors still reached 124-3 in response to Hampshire’s 214 all out.
Josh Tongue, Olly Stone, and Liam Patterson-White all claimed a wicket of their own on the second morning to dismiss the hosts as Felix Organ top-scored with 55.
Slater then put on 85 for the second wicket with Freddie McCann, before Jack Haynes and Kyle Verreynne saw Notts through to eventual stumps, just 90 in arrears.
