Sam Seecharan hit a century before Rob Lord and Joe Pocklington claimed three wickets each, but Nottinghamshire 2nd XI were narrowly unable to force victory over Gloucestershire in Rockhampton.

After the hosts had resumed day three on 231-7, trailing Notts by 229, they clawed their way to a first-innings deficit of 104 in spite of Pocklington claiming two scalps.

Seecharan then registered 102 and was backed up by Henry Rogers’ 72 as the visitors declared on 237-5, leaving Gloucestershire a tricky 342 to win.

Led by Lord’s 3/37 and Pocklington’s 3/24 - who bowled 22 overs for an economy rate of just 1.09 per over - the hosts were reduced to 77-6.

However, late resistance from wicketkeeper Joseph Eckland, who amassed an unbeaten 57 from 150 balls, saw them to a draw at 176-9, narrowly denying Notts a victory.
