Farhan Ahmed took four wickets and hit a half-century as Nottinghamshire’s Second XI drew a rain-affected Second XI Championship match against Surrey.

After only 3.1 overs of play were possible on day one, Ahmed complied 59 from 103 balls on day two as Notts made 217 in their first innings.

Ahmed and Rob Lord starred in the Surrey first innings, taking four wickets apiece (4/40 for Lord, 4/73 for Ahmed) as the hosts made 245 at New Malden.

Rain continued to wreak havoc in Nottinghamshire’s second innings, with only 18 overs possible – and no play on the final day – as Notts reached 32/3 at stumps.
