Trent Rockets have gone stratospheric ahead of their first home game in The Hundred, launching a cricket ball into space with help from a host of familiar Rockets faces.

A video released today to mark the team’s first home game shows Trent Rockets’ Georgia Elwiss and Ben Sanderson combining to send a ball skyward, reaching beyond the earth’s atmosphere before returning to Earth.

Today, Trent Rockets legends Nat and Katherine Sciver-Brunt brought the ball back to Trent Bridge, with the duo delivering the first ever ceremonial launch ball ahead of the men’s match.

The pair were joined at the launch by the Rockets’ new mascot, Spacedog. The first mascot to be revealed by any team in The Hundred, Spacedog will become a familiar presence at each home matchday, being on hand for the launch ball moment, autograph signings and bringing mischievous energy to the Trent Bridge concourses.

The launch ball, meanwhile, will be bowled by a special guest to a Rockets player before each men’s home game, creating a special matchday moment and celebrating a series of local heroes.

The launch ball moments are part of a bigger, bolder experience for supporters at Trent Rockets home matchdays this summer, with supporters in the Family Stand forming a yellow wall as each game begins, and two live music performances at each matchday.

Having become a firm favourite with the Rockets faithful, DJ Charlie Burley returns behind the decks, while popular presenter Sam Hurst is joined by Nottingham-born Jack Fisher on hosting duties.
