Haseeb Hameed feels the experience of George Munsey and Dillon Pennington could be important, as the pair take their place in the squad to face Leicestershire at Trent Bridge tomorrow (11am).
Hameed leads a 14-man squad for tomorrow’s Metro Bank One Day Cup clash.
Munsey will be available for tomorrow’s fixture and the trip to Lancashire on Thursday 30 July, with Jack Haynes and Ben Slater absent through injury.
Dillon Pennington will also be available for selection, with the paceman having not featured in Welsh Fire’s opening two fixtures.
“We saw what George can bring to us in the T20 competition,” said Hameed.
“He showed his quality straight away and became a big part of that side as a player and a person
“Hopefully he can add those qualities to our 50-over side too.
“And any chance you get to have Dill back with us is great.
“He’s a quality bowler in all formats so we’re really excited to have him back.”
Hameed made a half-century in Notts’ opening win over Somerset at the John Fretwell Centre, before the Outlaws secured a second successive win over Warwickshire.
“I’m pleased with the start that we’ve made as a group,” he said.
“It’s always nice to go to Welbeck, and it was nice to get a couple of wins on the board.
“There were a few of us who had some time off during the T20s, and whenever we start a new competition there’s a sense of excitement and opportunity, so we were champing at the bit to get going again.”
The winning runs against Warwickshire were struck by Academy graduate Byron Hatton-Lowe – one of many homegrown players to have earned an opportunity in the List A competition in recent years.
And Hameed feels those experiences are beginning to pay dividends.
“The fact so many players have had a taste of first team cricket is a big thing to be able to draw on,” he said.
“Experience is invaluable when it comes to coping with pressure situations, which you get a lot of in white-ball cricket.
“We’ve got another competitive squad to pick from this week, and there will be good players missing out.
“We know that the eleven that are lucky enough to go out and play for us will give it their all to play for a win.”
