Ben Martindale beamed with pride as he reflected on an ideal First-Class debut that saw Nottinghamshire down Surrey inside three days at the Kia Oval.

Martindale, whose father Duncan also represented the Green and Golds, explained how the opportunity came about in the days leading up to the fixture, and how proud he was to take it.

He discussed how his previous experiences of playing white-ball cricket for Notts, as well as a rich vein of red-ball form for the second XI, gave him confidence to perform in south London.
