Toby Lambert’s 92 wasn’t enough to prevent Warwickshire’s U18s from prevailing by three runs in a thriller at Lady Bay.

Lambert hammered his runs from 81 deliveries, including seven fours and three sixes, as Notts almost made a successful pursuit of the Bears’ 321 in the 50-over clash.

He found support from captain Byron Hatton-Lowe, who hit a run-a-ball 57 and was part of a 72-run stand for the fifth-wicket with the wicketkeeper-batter.

The visitors continued to chip away with wickets at crucial times, leaving Notts requiring 7 runs from the final over with one wicket in hand.

Three runs were secured from the first three balls, before Ben Macey was dismissed from the fourth.

Macey had earlier claimed two wickets – with Josh Beer securing a brace, and Jacob Hughes and Mihir Patel taking three apiece – as Warwickshire subsided from 222/1 to 321 all out in the final over.
