Dane Schadendorf hit a century as Notts enjoyed the better of day two of their Second XI Championship clash with Durham at South Northumberland CC.

Nottinghamshire sit second in the Championship table heading into their final fixture of the season, trailing Northamptonshire, who have two games remaining, on points per game.

And after day one at Gosforth was washed out, the Green and Golds made a promising start to their three-day fixture at the second time of asking.

Opening pair Ben Martindale and Sammy King shared a half-century stand, with Martindale hitting 50 from 73 balls before being pinned by George Drissell.

It was Schadendorf who carried Notts towards a competitive total, making 118 from 109 balls, including 19 fours and two sixes.

He shared a 123-run stand with Tom Loten, who made a steadfast 43 from 76 balls.

The visitors made 285 before being dismissed, and soon had Durham reeling in reply, as Drissell and Jonathan Bushnell were trapped lbw by Toby Pettman and Brett Hutton respectively.

From 4/2, the hosts were unable to mount a consistent fightback, as James Hayes picked up three wickets, Pettman two, and Loten, Fateh Singh and George Burrows one apiece.

Durham were 108/9 at stumps, 177 runs in arrears.
