The Blaze have secured the services of seamer Charley Phillips from Sunrisers.

The 21-year-old will join on loan for the remainder of this year’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy campaign, before a permanent two-year deal from November.

She becomes the first new face to sign for The Blaze in the restructured domestic system, with Trent Bridge named as host for one of eight tier one teams.

12 currently-contracted players have already committed to the side following a Charlotte Edwards Cup triumph earlier this year, with the East Midlands outfit having made it to the finals of the 50 and 20-over competitions in 2023.

“There is definitely a balance to strike for us in terms of personnel,” said Head Coach Chris Guest.

“We obviously want to keep the core of our squad together because of the success we’ve had over the last 18 months, but we also want to supplement it so we’re in a better place both now and in the future.

“Charley is a seamer with raw pace and the ability to move the ball away, and her ceiling is very high. Having played against her this year, we know that she is talented and believe there is still room for her to grow in the coming seasons.

“She adds depth and competition to our current stock of seamers, and we are excited to have her on board for the remainder of this season, and when she joins us permanently in November.”

Phillips hails from Hertfordshire, and has represented the county in List A and T20 cricket.

She signed her first professional contract with Sunrisers in 2024.
