Former Nottinghamshire captain Steven Mullaney has retired from cricket, and will continue his career at Trent Bridge in a purely coaching capacity.
The all-rounder amassed 14,275 runs and took 377 wickets in an 18-year professional career with Lancashire and Notts, winning the County Championship, two One Day titles and two T20 Blast trophies.
Mullaney took the reins as Notts skipper in 2018, leading his side in 133 fixtures across all competitions.
His tenure in County Championship cricket included promotion to Division One as champions in 2022 and a third-place finish in the top tier in 2021, having amassed the most points of any team in the country.
In his final summer in charge, he skippered his side to sixth place upon their return to red-ball cricket's top flight.
Mullaney also led Notts Outlaws to the knockout stages of the 2018 and 2019 One Day Cup, as well as the 2021 and 2023 Vitality Blast quarter finals.
Having moved into a player-coach role 12 months ago after stepping down from the captaincy, the 37-year-old has captained the Second XI this summer whilst also performing coaching duties, with Notts winning the Second XI Championship this summer.
He has also coached under Andy Flower for Trent Rockets in The Hundred, and worked in the Abu Dhabi T10 competition.
