All-rounder Sophie Munro has signed a loan move to Sunrisers for the remainder of the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

Lincolnshire-born Munro made her Lightning debut in 2020 having spent her formative years with Nottinghamshire Women.

She has gone on to play 33 List A and 17 T20 games for the East Midlands region, and was recently selected by England A for their tours to Oman and New Zealand.

“Sophie has requested to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere for the time being and, as our ultimate desire is to see individuals develop as players and people - here or otherwise - we’ll do what we can to help her achieve that,” said Director of Women's Cricket, James Cutt.

“Naturally, we are disappointed to see her go given her high ceiling as a cricketer and the impact she has made with us, but she departs for the T20 block with our best wishes.

“Having begun her senior regional career with us, she is an example of how far players can progress here. She has achieved international recognition over the winter with our support.

“Both with bat and ball, she is a naturally gifted player who has grown during her time with us, and that is testament both to her and the staff who have worked hard to help make her the player she is today.

“We look forward to seeing her progression as a player over the next few weeks.”
