The weather was the winner in the Outlaws’ T20 Vitality Blast clash with Durham today.
Captain Joe Clarke won a toss delayed by 90 minutes and opted to bowl in what was scheduled to be a 17 overs-per-side fixture.
Durham openers Graham Clark and Alex Lees put on 58 for the opening stand from five overs.
Rain then returned with thunder and lightning, the latter of which mandatorily delayed an inspection due to health and safety concerned.
By the time James Middlebrook and Paul Balwin - umpiring his 100th T20 Fixture - returned to the middle, they decided it would not be possible to play the fixture to a conclusion by the cut-off time of 18:10.
The Outlaws take a point ahead of their next T20 match against Derbyshire at Trent Bridge this coming Friday.
