Freddie McCann’s titanic two hundred, aided by a stellar stint from fellow centurion Dane Schadendorf, placed the Second XI in a strong position against Leicestershire on day two of their Second XI Championship contest at Lady Bay.
Resuming their first innings on 10/0, club captain Haseeb Hameed’s 73 helped Notts commence their response to the visitors' 353 strongly despite the early loss of Ben Slater in the sixth over.
Hameed's second-wicket stand with McCann mustered 154 runs for the hosts before the former was caught off the bowling of Roman Walker.
McCann then stole the show in tandem with Dane Schadendorf, as the pair took their partnership to 282 runs by the close of play; 26 boundaries flowed for McCann while Schadendorf tallied 15 fours and two maximums on the way to posting an unbeaten 131 at stumps.
The Green and Golds head into day three leading by 93 runs with eight wickets in hand, with play at Lady Bay resuming at 11am.
