Nottinghamshire captain Haseeb Hameed has been named the John Pye Auctions Player of the Month for May.

The opener hit 391 runs in the space of three red-ball fixtures, beginning with an unbeaten 247 as Notts secured their first win of the County Championship season against Lancashire.

Hameed starred once more as the Green and Golds enjoyed the better of a rain-affected draw against Worcestershire, making 100 in the first fixture of the season at Visit Worcestershire New Road.

The 27-year-old was presented with his award at Notts Outlaws’ Vitality Blast fixture against Derbyshire Falcons, with Trevor Palethorpe from John Pye Auctions handing over the prize.
