Nottinghamshire’s Farhan Ahmed and Freddie McCann have been named in the England Men Under-19s squad for the three-game Youth ODI series against Sri Lanka later this month.
It is McCann’s first inclusion in the national squad, and follows his graduation onto a full-time contract with the Green and Golds over the recent winter.
Ahmed - one of nine players in the squad who were part of the winter’s ICC Men’s U19 World Cup in South Africa - is picked having taken five wickets in that tournament at an average of 25 and economy of fewer than four runs per over.
It will be his second home assignment having played in Youth ODIs and Youth Tests against Australia last summer, while he signed his first professional terms with Nottinghamshire this week.
England Men Under-19s coach, Mike Yardy, said: “We have selected an exciting squad for the series, with a blend of some players who are currently playing in the Vitality Blast and some younger players for whom it will be their first time in an Under-19s squad.
"As always, it’s a great opportunity for the players to perform in an England Under-19 shirt and to experience international cricket."
