Wood will compete with the likes of Nottinghamshire’s Dillon Pennington and his Durham stablemate Matthew Potts for the vacant seam-bowling slot in the side, following James Anderson's international retirement.

The paceman has made two Test appearances in Nottingham, taking the winning wicket in 2015 as England sealed a famous Ashes series victory.

He has made six further white-ball appearances for his country at the venue.
