Joe Root will be available to feature for Trent Rockets upon the conclusion of England’s Test series against West Indies, with Riley Meredith replacing the right-hander while he remains on international duty.

The former Three Lions skipper, who has been with Trent Rockets since their formation, and made a high score of 72* in last year’s campaign.

Meredith, meanwhile, is set for his first summer in the competition, having taken 127 wickets across 101 T20 appearances.

He has featured for Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL since 2017, and has represented Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.

Elsewhere, Nottinghamshire’s Ben Duckett and England captain Ben Stokes are among those available to play in the competition following the conclusion of the Test series, with Duckett representing Birmingham Phoenix and Stokes at Northern Superchargers.

Notts paceman Dillon Pennington is also likely to feature in The Hundred from the early rounds.

In addition, it is expected that England Men's players picked in the squad for the first Rothesay Test match against Sri Lanka at Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday 21 August will be available for The Hundred Eliminator (Saturday 17 August) and The Hundred Final (Sunday 18 August), depending on player role and workload management.

England Women's players are available for The Hundred with their summer international commitments finished.
