Joe Clarke has been included in the 2023 IG PCA Men’s Team of the Year, selected by the PCA Player Rankings, which provides the best statistical 11 from across the domestic season.
MVP points across the LV= Insurance County Championship, Vitality Blast, The Hundred and Metro Bank One Day Cup are taken into account to name the team, which includes the likes of Liam Dawson, Simon Harmer and James Rew.
Top order batter Clarke returned his greatest tally of runs in a County Championship season since joining Nottinghamshire, with over 1000 runs across the course of the campaign.
That included two game-saving scores - an unbeaten 229 against Warwickshire at Trent Bridge, and 141 against Kent - proving the 28-year-old’s penchant to fronting up with pressure on.
He was also Notts Outlaws’ top scorer in the Vitality Blast with 432 runs.
That haul included three half-centuries, with his top score an imposing 89 not out off 53 deliveries. That innings came in a 68-ball 122 run partnership with Colin Munro which helped the Outlaws defeat Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston.
Only seven players across the competition blitzed more than Clarke’s 22 sixes, which helped him to an impressive strike-rate of 154.83
All players selected in the 2023 IG PCA Men’s Team of the Year will receive a personalised winner’s medal from Mappin & Webb.
