A trio of Blaze players have been included in the 2023 Metro Bank Women’s Team of the Year, selected by the PCA Most Valuable Player Rankings, powered by Argentex, to give a statistical XI from this season’s domestic women’s cricket.
MVP points are taken from the Charlotte Edwards Cup, Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and The Hundred, with Tammy Beaumont, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Grace Ballinger rewarded for their performances with the East Midlands outfit and Welsh Fire, Trent Rockets and Northern Superchargers respectively.
Their contributions helped The Blaze to the final of both the domestic competitions.
Beaumont mustered a remarkable 1,447 runs across domestic competitions to rack up 274 MVP points, including the first ever women’s century in The Hundred. Her 317 runs in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy came at 52.83, including a half century in the final of the competition.
Sciver-Brunt captained the Trent Rockets with aplomb, scoring 216 runs at 43.2 with a strike-rate of 160. In her Charlotte Edwards cup appearances, she made 194 runs at an average of 64.66.
Ballinger achieved 134 MVP points, taking 24 wickets across the 20 and 50 over tournaments, with best figures of 4-54 in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
All players selected in the 2023 Metro Bank PCA Women’s Team of the Year will receive a personalised winners medal from Mappin & Webb.
