Brett Hutton led the way with four for 69 as Nottinghamshire dismissed Essex on day one at Trent Bridge.
Hutton increased his haul for the season to 29 wickets, just one behind Warwickshire’s Chris Rushworth, while there were three wickets each for Dane Paterson and Stuart Broad, in his final First-Class fixture before this summer’s Ashes series.
