Kevin Shine admitted Notts bore the brunt of a challenging second day against Warwickshire in the LV = Insurance County Championship, with the hosts five down and trailing at Trent Bridge.
The assistant coach maintained, however, that the rarity of such situations shows the improvements made by the Green and Golds over previous seasons.
He added that his side still have two days to make amends, too, as the home side respond to an imposing first innings total from the Bears.
