New Zealand batter Will Young has signed for a three-game red-ball stint with Notts, beginning with the Green and Golds’ clash against Surrey at the Kia Oval.

The 41-time Kiwi international has amassed almost 7,000 career First-Class runs, at an average a touch under 40, and will remain with Notts for home games against Hampshire and Kent.

He has played one Test for the Blackcaps at Trent Bridge, compiling scores of 56 and 47 in the thrilling 2022 encounter with England.

“It is great to add a player of Will’s quality to our batting group, and his experience as an international top-three batter will add stability to our lineup" said Head Coach Peter Moores.

“We are all aware of the importance of the next three fixtures, starting against the champions at the Oval. Will's previous experiences in the Championship mean that he knows what to expect, and he has shown that his game is suited to being successful in English conditions.”

"He comes with strong recommendations both as a player and as a bloke, so we’re very excited to have him with us for the next few weeks.”

Nottinghamshire currently sit seventh in the Division One table, trailing fourth-placed Warwickshire by just 15 points.

Surrey are the only side to boast more bowling points than Notts, with the sides set to use the Kookaburra ball when they meet in London after its use for two red-ball fixtures was recommended by the High Performance Review.
